Cognitiveness at the edge: Platforms, Models, Tools – an insight into the ALOHA project

Michael Masin and Paolo Meloni

We define the Cognitive CPS domain, show examples of cognitive applications for wellness, workers safety, and smart spaces in cars, hotels, hospitals, and home. We will discuss their implementation architecture and supporting platform based on the example of IBM Watson cognitive services, IoT Platform and Personal Assistant. In the second part of the lecture, we present challenges and current state-of-the-art of bringing cognitive intelligence to the edge CPS devices, focusing on efficient and secure running of Deep Learning algorithms on the edge.
